Classes Offered

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider

BLS CPR CompressionsBLS for Healthcare provider CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training is a specialized course tailored for medical professionals, such as nurses, doctors, and paramedics. This training covers a more in-depth curriculum than standard CPR classes, focusing on high-quality chest compressions, airway management, use of a defibrillator, and teamwork in a medical setting. It includes scenarios that healthcare providers might encounter in a hospital or clinical environment. The AHA BLS Provider class is considered the “gold standard” of BLS certifications.

Key aspects of BLS healthcare provider CPR training include:

  1. High-Quality Chest Compressions: Emphasizing the importance of proper depth and pace during chest compressions to ensure effective circulation.
  2. Advanced Airway Management: Training in using tools like bag-mask devices and endotracheal tubes to ensure the patient’s airway remains open for breathing.
  3. Use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs): In-depth training on using these devices, including their placement and operation.
  4. Teamwork and Communication: Since healthcare settings often involve multiple professionals, the training emphasizes coordination and communication among team members during resuscitation efforts.
  5. Recognition of Cardiac Arrest: Identifying signs of cardiac arrest quickly and understanding the appropriate response protocol.
  6. Special Situations: Addressing unique scenarios such as resuscitation in infants and children, drowning incidents, or situations involving drug overdose.

AHA BLS Healthcare provider CPR certification requires both a theoretical component, either completed in the classroom or online, and a practical, hands-on session to practice skills under the supervision of a certified instructor. The certification is valid for two years before a refresher or re-certification course is needed.
